Hello! I'm so excited to be teaching art again this year. Art has always been a part of my life since I was very young to when I decided to become an art major in college. Now, I get to spread my love of all things colorful to the students at Maggie B. Selman!

This year during art you will be introduced to a variety of mediums such as oil pastels, chalk pastels, watercolor, tempera paint, crayons and markers. Students will explore these mediums in a variety of ways. We will also create 2D, 3D, abstract and realistic art pieces.

The past is important and students will learn about some historic art figures as well as some modern day artists.

We will cruise around the Elements of Art: Line, Shape, Form, Space, Color, Value and Texture. As well as, the Principles of Design: Pattern, Rhythm, Balance, Emphasis, Harmony, Variety and Unity.

It is important for everyone to have the opportunity to learn, so our art room expectations are:

A- Always do your best!
R- Respect each other and the teacher.
T- Take care of your supplies.
I- Inside voices please.
S- Stay on task
T- Turn mistakes into masterpieces.

We have fun, and we make messes, so please do not wear your best clothes on art day!
